Sankranthi 2023 brought a bang for the Tamil audience as they witnessed a high-voltage clash between the two superstars of the industry at the box office. With this, movie buffs are excited to know about the film’s collections.
According to reports, Varisu has earned Rs 275 crore from its worldwide ticket sales so far. And it has already become the second biggest earner in Vijay’s career. The star’s 2019 sports drama Bigil remains the biggest box office hit in his career.
On the other hand, Thunivu has raked in Rs 175 crore by market estimates during the same period. And the film’s collection is close to Ajith’s biggest commercial hit Viswasam (2019). Chances are Thunivu might even overtake Viswasam by the end of its theatrical run.
However, it is to be noted that while Vijay planned for the Pan-India market, Ajith’s film Thunivu hasn’t focused that much on it. So many are operating, even that would be a reason for the difference in collections.
Varisu is a complete family entertainer directed by Vamshi Paidipally, whereas Thunivu is an action entertainer directed by H.Vinoth.
