Bollywood being a platform for choreographers and artists who could exhibit their craft made it possible for many to earn the fame they deserve now. Vaibhavi upon being asked, ” For instance, a 15-year-old can look for videos on Youtube remake it by himself and be known for his work unless one realizes that has been already performed by someone else. Was it hard for you then compared to the situation now?”, the Lagaan choreographer replied, ” Yes, it did engage and challenge us, wherein we did not have any references, it came from books and the blackboard, it came from works that maybe the people from musical industries did or for the matter for me my inspiration has been the black and out era.”.
She further added, “Even Bob Fosy and inspiration us for came from the ’80s, 70’s,60’s or the golden 50’s and 40’s. It is great today that all these kids who want to branch out into professions such as dancing and whether it is classical or contemporary or modern you know Western and it is not only for the privileged children not just people who can afford these classes, it’s great that even at the grassroots levels if you see some groups who are making a lot for themselves with that information. I think let’s see it both as a boon, I would not see it as something that I lacked because that only engaged by mind for being the OG” stated Vaibhavi Merchant smiling.
