TIku Weds Sheru: Is it worth your Amazon Prime subscription?

Avneet Kaur, the popular Aladdin actress who has appeared in various reality shows as a child has been in the industry before her teen time. As she touches 21, she has already surpassed her own expectations of success. After you’ve worked beside blockbuster stars like Kangana Ranaut and Nawazuddin Siddiqui for your debut into B-town, whether or not the movie impressed the audience is a concern too faded to be bothersome.

But, with movies come reviews. Here’s a brief summary of the movie and how good it did in terms of acting, script and other criteria. Sheru (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) is a junior artist who is lent 10 lakh rupees by a man to make a film, which he never does. Tiku (Avneet Kaur) on the flipside has aspirations of becoming an actress and is in love with a boy who lives in Mumbai. Now, Sheru has to repay the loan, with failure of which his house will be confiscated. Tiku’s parents are ready to give Sheru 10 lakhs worth of dowry. Initially, Tiku is reluctant but when she realises she can be in Mumbai for both her dream and her boyfriend, she enthusiastically agrees.

The first climax is when Tiku elopes to her boyfriend and finds out she’s impregnated by him but he refuses to take responsibility, stating he already has a wife and kids. Now comes the loophole in the script. What happens to the loan? Nobody knows. Unnecessary substance abuse and impregnation is added to the film just to fill the gaps. There is no character development in the plot. After the betrayal scene, there was scope for the story to evolve and end on a good note, which didn’t happen. It becomes a turn off when so many questions remain unanswered and the characters’ behaviour is unreasonable. Inferentially, at the end of Tiku Weds Sheru, you’ll feel nothing but ‘good riddance’.
