Jennifer Lawrence thoughts on No hard feelings

Jennifer Lawrence has long desired to star in a major comedy. She has always brought a sense of humour and life to her television performances. And while she has added humour and physical comedy to many of the roles she has played for David O. Russell and others, she hasn’t really had the wide, broad experience of, say, Dumb and Dumber or Anchorman, to name a couple of her favourites (or at least the ones she has memorised).

No Hard Feelings, a vintage, raucous R-rated comedy that was crafted specifically for the Oscar winner, altered everything on Friday.

I’ve always desired to act in comedies. And I’ve read a lot of them,” Lawrence said in an interview with The Associated Press on the much awaited summer film season. I simply avoided reading anything that was funny enough.

No Hard Feelings was influenced by a true Craigslist ad placed by parents looking for a lady to “date” their son the summer before he left for college in order to help him come out of his shell. The “real ad”‘s veracity is up for discussion, although Gene Stupnitsky, a writer and director, and several other producers were amused by the concept that a woman may respond to such an ad.
