The fast-attack Pakistani submarine PNS Ghazi, also known as the “Ghazi,” was in service with the Pakistani Navy from 1964 until 1971. It disappeared inexplicably in 1971. At first, PNS Ghazi was known as USS Diablo (SS-479). In 1963, the Pakistani Navy leased it from the United States. The submarine had previously served in the US Navy from 1945 to 1963.

PVP Cinema dropped a post on Twitter saying 7️⃣ Years ago, National Award-winning #Ghazi submerged us into a world of bravery & patriotism 🇮🇳🫡Grateful to the dedicated cast & crew 🙌#7YearsForGhaziToday, the film celebrates its 7th anniversary. The mythical circumstances surrounding the unexplained sinking of PNS Ghazi amid the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War served as the inspiration for the film Ghazi. The narrative centres on an Indian Navy submarine, an executive naval officer, and the team that submerged for eighteen days. The story revolves around the bravery of the Indian submarine crew, INS Karanj (S21), which destroyed the Pakistani submarine PNS Ghazi when it entered Indian waters to destroy INS Vikrant near Visakhapatnam.

Before being retitled Ghazi the Attack, the movie was initially called Ghazi. The 1971 Indo-Pak War events serve as the basis for the movie. There is a claim that this is the war we were unaware of. Ghazi the Attack won Telugu’s National Film Award for Best Feature Film.
