The glory of Cholas: Golden Age Glimpse

The ace director Maniratnam is very focused on his next project, Ponniyan Selvan. This film is said to be his dream project and being made into two parts. Marking the first part’s theatrical release soon, The teaser of Ponniyin Selvan-1 was released a week ago, in a grand event.

This teaser received a huge response and created a great buzz on the film. Now within no time, the makers have unveiled a short video clip that showcased the significance of the Chola dynasty, which is considered as one of the world’s longest-lasting empires.

As the movie backdrop is set in the 9th century, the one-and-a-half-minute video revealed by the team shared a few of the interesting things about Chola’s Glory.

The video started with Veteran historian S Ramachandran sharing brief things about Tanjore which was declared capital of the kingdom by Vijayalaya Chola in 848 CE.

“Tanjore became an empire during the reign of Raja Raja Chola. Vijayalaya Chola son Rajendran extended territory by invading South East Asia”, Ramachandran added.

The video also explained about the kingdom’s infrastructure, water management, and their art, and culture. Finally it portrayed why the Cholas period was called the golden era of Tamilians.

Touted as a High-budget film, the movie stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Karthi and Jayam Ravi in lead roles. The film is set to release on September 30 in five languages.
