Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik set for on-screen reunion in Young Sheldon series finale

The Big Bang Theory

Young Sheldon set out to end with a Bang. Bazinga again! “The Big Bang Theory” stars Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will guest star on the series finale of CBS’ “Young Sheldon,” reuniting as Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler, so it only makes sense to have a Big Bang Theory reunion.

Naturally, Parsons has been an integral part of Young Sheldon since the start, both as a producer and the show’s narrator. On two occasions, Bialik has provided her voicing talents to the Young Sheldon series.

But this represents the first time the duo has been on screen together since the May 2019 series finale of “The Big Bang Theory,” and it also marks the first on-camera appearance of their characters — grown-up Sheldon and Amy.

Most recently, she was heard in a 2022 episode where adult Sheldon brings in his wife, Amy, in voiceover form while discussing relationships. The duo last shared the screen in the May 2019 series finale of The Big Bang Theory, which saw Sheldon and Amy win the Nobel Prize in physics.

The Big Bang Theory debuted in 2007 and ended in 2019, while Young Sheldon debuted in 2017. The announcement that Parsons and Bialik will be appearing on Young Sheldon follows a day after CBS said that the Big Bang Theory/Young Sheldon universe will continue with a spin-off starring Montagna Jordan as Sheldon’s brother Georgie and Emily Osment as his wife, Mandy. CBS officially ordered the 2024–2025 broadcast season of that show.

Details of the episode, which airs Thursday, May 16, and how Parsons and Bialik will be incorporated into it remain a secret.

More About Young Sheldon

The show stars Iain Armitage as the adolescent version of Parsons‘ Big Bang Theory protagonist, following his childhood prodigy adventures in ’80s and ’90s East Texas. Parsons, who provides narration as adult Sheldon, originally conceived the idea for Young Sheldon and brought it to producers.

Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro created Young Sheldon, featuring Iain Armitage as Sheldon Cooper, the younger version of Parsons’ character from The Big Bang Theory. Beginning the 2017–2018 television season as the most popular new comedy, the show has maintained its position as the most viewed primetime laffer in television history.

The series premiered on CBS in 2017, airing on the same night as The Big Bang Theory through its final two seasons. The prequel soon became one of the most-watched comedies on broadcast television.

The cross-over between Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory is one of the fans’ most anticipated and exciting events.
