Shekhar Suman, currently basking in the acclaim for his performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, shared valuable advice for his son, actor Adhyayan Suman. In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Shekhar encouraged Adhyayan to draw inspiration from Katrina Kaif’s remarkable journey in the film industry.
Shekhar Suman Praises Katrina Kaif’s Transformation
Reflecting on Katrina Kaif’s early struggles, Shekhar Suman highlighted how she overcame significant challenges. He noted, “Take a cue from other people’s journey. Look at Katrina Kaif. When she came in Boom, she couldn’t stand, say her lines, or even dance, but look at where she reached.” Shekhar pointed out her impressive performances in films like Rajneeti, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara, and Dhoom 3, emphasizing that even the best actors start with humble beginnings.
Adhyayan Suman, who stars in Heeramandi alongside his father, discussed his own journey in the industry. Despite being written off at one point, Adhyayan has managed to deliver a noteworthy performance in the series. Shekhar, proud of his son’s resilience, believes that Adhyayan can learn from the perseverance and growth exhibited by actors like Katrina Kaif.

Shekhar Suman further mentioned other actors who faced initial setbacks but eventually found success. He cited Deepika Padukone’s evolution into a celebrated actress and Ananya Panday’s journey from being trolled to earning acclaim with Kho Gaye Hum Kahan. Shekhar’s message to Adhyayan was clear: “You have to take it on your chin with a pinch of salt and a sense of humor.”
Heeramandi, which was recently renewed for a second season, features an ensemble cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Taha Shah Badushah. The series, which premiered on Netflix on May 1, has been well-received, with both Shekhar and Adhyayan playing pivotal roles. Adhyayan portrays Nawab Zoravar and young Nawab Zulfikar, showcasing his versatility as an actor.
