Recently, his co-actor from the film, Tiku Talsania, revealed in an interview that Shah Rukh would consume alcohol during filming because he thought it was essential for the character. Tiku, who played the role of Dharamdas in the movie, suggested to him that he only needed to pretend to be drunk.
However, Shah Rukh Khan, fully immersed in his portrayal of Devdas, argued that while he could act drunk, the inebriation wouldn’t be visible in his eyes if he didn’t actually drink. He expressed, “Sir acting toh ho jayegi. Aankhon mein sharab dikhti nahi hai na, uska kya” (Sir, acting will happen. But the inebriation won’t reflect in my eyes. What about that?).
Tiku Talsania praised Shah Rukh Khan’s attention to detail, noting that an actor emotes through their eyes. He explained that it would seem unnatural for Devdas not to have the look of an alcoholic in his eyes. Shah Rukh Khan’s dedication and commitment to his profession have contributed to his success and reputation in the industry.

Furthermore, another actor from “Devdas,” Milind Gunaji, shared a heartwarming story about Shah Rukh Khan’s kindness during a difficult time. In an interview with Rajshri Unplugged, Milind disclosed that he tragically lost his father while filming the movie. Shah Rukh Khan showed concern for him and was willing to halt the shoot to support him and ensure his well-being.
Milind fondly remembered Shah Rukh’s compassionate gestures, stating, “I remember Shah Rukh, he is such a gentleman and a nice person. He used to come and sit with me. told me that he was feeling sorry about this and said that if something needs to stop, they will stop. He said that there won’t be any problem, and they can stop the shoot. Sanjay sir also told me the same thing.”
