Sandeep Reddy Vanga Indirectly slams Kiran Rao
Sandeep Reddy Vanga has become one of the most controversial directors in the film industry. He is a rare director who gets equal hate and love from the audience. Sandeep Vanga’s films, Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh, and Animal, have all been strongly criticized for their misogynistic portrayals. However, the director always defends his point of view and gives a solid answer to the film’s criticisms. It seems like Sandeep has recently indirectly dug at Aamir Khan’s ex-wife, Kiran Rao.
In a previous interview in 2023, Kiran Rao talked about the glorification of stalking and referred to Kabir Singh and Bahubali as examples. Now, it looks like Sandeep Vanga has answered back to Kiran Rao. In a recent interview, the animal director mentioned an old statement and said, “Ek superstar ki second ex-wife bol rahi hai ki Baahubali 2 aur Kabir Singh misogyny ko promote karte hain aur stalking ko promote karte hain” (The second ex-wife of a superstar is saying that Baahubali 2 and Kabir Singh promote misogyny and endorse stalking). Sandeep, to defend his movie, Kabir Singh takes Shah Rukh Khan’s movie Dar as an example. He says that Shah Rukh Khan persistently pursues Kiran, although her engagement is defined as stalking. The director also states,
“Agar koi ladka ladki ko approach nahi karega toh propose kaise karega?Toh itni badi badi baatein kyu karni hai?” (If a boy doesn’t approach a girl, how will he propose? So, why make such a big deal?).
Sandeep Reddy Vanga also refers to Aamir Khan’s movie Dar and argues, “Main kehna chahta uss aurat ko ki jaake Aamir Khan ko pucho ki khambe jaisi khadi hai yeh ladki phuljhadi hai, woh kya tha? Then come back to me. If you remember Dil, almost rape attempt tak leke jake usko ehsaas jatata hai ki isne galat kiya aur usko pyaar ho jata hai. Yeh sab kya hai?” (I want to tell that woman: Go and ask Aamir Khan about the song Khambe jaisi khadi hai. What was that? Then come back to me. If you remember Dil, he almost attempts rape and makes her feel like she has done the wrong thing. And then they fall in love. What was all that?)
When the director was asked if he believed he was being targeted, he agreed. According to him, individuals who think that the Hindi film industry is their territory can now not digest and see someone else entering and making good films.
