Samantha’s Shaakuntalam makes its OTT debut ; shocks the fans

Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s much-anticipated Telugu film Shaakuntalam bagged a box office flop upon its theatrical release on April 14, 2023, pan-India. But audiences are keen to watch Shaakuntalam on streaming platforms. Given that it’s a big-budget film and is produced by Gunashekar’s daughter Neelima Guna under ‘Guna team works’ banner, all thought that the film might not reach the OTT platform for at least five to eight weeks after its theatrical release.

But shockingly the film started its OTT streaming. Shaakuntalam movie’s streaming rights in all languages have been bought by the OTT giant Amazon Prime and the movie is now available in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada languages for the users of the platform. Now, we have to wait and see how it will be the response to the movie on OTT.

The movie had all the required elements to be an engaging romantic drama with a mythological backdrop, but the ineffective narration and zero emotions made the film a bland affair and the audience could not connect to the characters or the film. The epic drama, adapted for the screen and directed by Gunasekhar, stars Samantha, Ananya Nagalla, Sachin Khedekar, Dev Mohan, Aditi Balan, Kabir Bedi, and others. The film is produced by Neelima Guna and has music by Mani Sharma.

Samantha is currently busy promoting her upcoming film Kushi along with Vijay Deverakonda directed by Shiva Nirvana. Kushi will be released in theatres on September 1st.
