Shakuntalam’s shoot was wrapped up later last year, but there has been no official announcement on the film’s release plan till now.
As per the latest reports, Shakuntalam will not be releasing in theatres this year, and it will be pushed to 2023.
If the film really is pushed to 2023, then there is this overwhelming risk of it losing all the momentum. But as it appears, this is the risk the makers are willing to take.
Apparently, the director Gunasekhar and the producer Dil Raju are determined to churn out a winning film and they are willing to spend big bucks on the post-production. Shakuntalam is a big-budget period love drama, so there are many VFX and CGI works involved.
Overall, Shakuntalam is likely to release only in the summer of 2023, which is still a fair way away from now.
