The film was made with an estimated budget of Rs 550 crores and grossed ₹1,316 crore (US$160 million) worldwide, setting several box office records for an Indian film, including the third highest-grossing Indian film, second highest-grossing Telugu film, highest-grossing Telugu film of 2022 and highest grossing Indian film of 2022 worldwide. It received universal praise for its direction, screenwriting, cast performances, cinematography, and action sequences. The film was considered one of the then-best films of 2022 by the US National Board Of Review.
The director received critical appraisal from legendary Hollywood directors, who praised his exceptional direction and filmmaking. It was the first Indian film directed by an Indian to be nominated in multiple categories and won two Oscars.
