Ryan Reynolds’ IF trailer : John Krasinski’s live-action take on ‘Monsters Inc.’ brings imaginary friends to life.

IF, the upcoming fantasy film written, directed, and starring John Krasinski and Ryan Reynolds, may be a dream come true for fans of the TV series that propelled Krasinski to fame.

As seen in the recently released teaser trailer, Carell voices a big purple creature that appears to be a distant cousin of McDonald’s Grimace.

The reunion between Krasinski and Carell is the first since The Office ended in 2013.

The new family-friendly video raises the question: Have you ever wondered where your imagined companions go once they’ve left your brain? The term serves as both a cryptic description and an acronym for “Imaginary Friends.”

If follows a young girl named Bea (Cailey Fleming) who realizes she can see everyone’s imaginary pals. Later, she begins on a wonderful journey to reconnect forgotten imaginary friends, or “IFs,” with their children. Ryan Reynolds plays Bea’s father, while the story is presented from the perspective of an IF named Blue (Steve Carell).

Reynolds tweeted the teaser this morning, along with the message, “Get ready for a heart-warming, all-family film from the director of A Quiet Place, the star of Deadpool, and the studio that brought you Annihilation.”

A Paramount Pictures presentation, IF is set for release on May 17, 2024.
