The trailer of Mammootty’s upcoming movie, ‘Bramayugam’ dropped recently. The Rahul Sadasivan directorial showed the actor in a never-before-seen avatar. As reported earlier, the National award-winning actor is set to play a unique character named Kunjamon Potti in the film, which stars Arjun Ashokan and Sidharth Bharathan in pivotal roles.

Bramayugam is now making headlines after the Punchaman family of Kerala’s Kottayam district filed a lawsuit against the film. The plea was filed by the family members of the Punchaman Illam in Kottayam, demanding the withdrawal of the censor certificate granted to the film.

‘The members of Punchaman Illam are mentioned in Aithihyamala, which Kottarathil Sankunni wrote. The information about the movie suggests that the movie’s story is taken from Aithihyamala. Punchaman Poti, the hero of the film, is a person who practices black magic and so on. This will give the family a bad name in front of the society, ‘the petition read.

The actor is set to play the role of a feudal lord who has a knack for dark magic in the film. ‘Bramayugam’ is set to release on February 15.
