History tells us who we are and how we are in past. Writing is the form of expressing something that u witnessed or something that u had a dream or even sometimes it could be a sharing channel for the later generations on various aspects of life including history, cultures and traditions. India is a country divided into Kingdoms and United by the brotherhood in King’s timeline.
Inspired by those writings, Kollywood Ace director Mani Ratnam fulfilled his dream by creating the Ponniyin Selvan franchise. The director dreamt of this project back in more than 3 decades. Finally, we are witnessing his dream on Bigscreens. The Franchise was made on a story taken from the book written by Krishna Murthy.
Released on huge anticipation, the prequel doesn’t dominate much as the sequel did. This mammoth film was backed by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies on a grand scale. The first part minted more than 500 crores worldwide last year. Now the makers announced lately, that the sequel ie PS 2 emerged as the highest-grosser film in Tamil. A few days, back the second part also breaches the 300 cr mark and there are no signs of stopping this film overseas.
Ponniyin Selvan has a star-studded cast of Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Shobitha, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Prakash Raj, Sarath Kumar and others. This venture made good profits for the producers. Nevertheless, Mani Ratnam once again proved his mettle as a director.
