Police dropped charges against Hwasa

Hwasa’s police case

MAMAMOO’s Hwasa has released her first single album after moving to PNation. Before signing with a different agency, Hwasa was doing a world tour along with her MAMAMOO members who were accused of public obscenity during a live performance.

Now, the Maria singer has been officially cleared of all charges. The Seoul Seongdong Police Station made the announcement of dropping the charges stating their decision in favor of the singer. In June, a civic group filed a complaint against Hwasa claiming her performance is pervertly disgusting arousing shame in the young boy’s minds.

Hwasa performed at a university festival in May as part of the TV program “Dancing Queens On The Road” which was also later aired on the tvN channel. Later, the Student and Parents Human Rights Protection Coalition filed a complaint against the singer suggesting “perverted sexual acts sufficient to arouse shame and disgust in the public.”

After her solo album titled “I Love My Body” was released, she spoke about the controversy during a guest appearance on Sung Si-Kyung’s YouTube channel. Hwasa also quoted that her song “I Love My Body” was released in part as a response to the controversy.

Hwasa, the 29-year-old singer known for her songs comforting people around the globe and talking about body positivity has always been her own unfiltered honest self even with making music or interacting with fans proving, again and again, that no amount of hate can push back her authenticity of being one self.
