Nora Fatehi about competition in Bollywood
Nora Fatehi, the self-learnt dancer who looks like she had it the easy way. She just danced her heart out and immediately in a few months got her first famous break. But, it’s not true. There’s so much that went behind the scenes for Nora to finally land her first blockbuster Dilbar that’s still widely celebrated and grooved to. For someone who’s perseverance is undying, her opinion on Bollywood’s ‘inside game’ is dead honest. Someone who has watched Nora’s interviews knows that she doesn’t believe in sugarcoating. She isn’t afraid to call a spade a spade. Today, we’re going to find out what she says about the competition in Bollywood.
She said, “Today the industry has become very competitive. Let’s be realistic. There are only a few films a year. And sometimes what happens with filmmakers is they don’t think outside of what’s in front of them. So if only four girls are doing films, and they’re going in rotation, and all four are getting projects nonstop, the filmmakers will only remember those four, they won’t think beyond that.”
Nora went on to say that she is determined to “intercept the four and become five and get into the rotation.” She said, “That’s just how the ball rolls. And yeah, I mean, it’s hard work, but it’s happening. And I’m very grateful for that. I just have to prove myself, so I can stick around. That’s the next challenge.”
Nora Fatehi comes from a conservative family that didn’t allow her to even dance in a confined space, let alone became a professional dancer. When she landed in India, she didn’t know how to communicate in Hindi and every audition she went to, everyone ridiculed her for it. She incurred lacs and lacs of loss before finally setting her foot in India. But, it was all worth the pain. Finally, after being treated like a clown at the hands of auditioners and other people in the entertainment industry, she made her individual identity shine so bright that there’s no one like her today. Her fitness, her body, and her dance moves are enough to steal your attention for as long as you live.
Apart from songs, she’s also appeared in reality shows as judge, guest, and is also making her way into films.
