August 16 1947 is a Tamil period action drama film which is written and directed by N.S. Ponkumar and produced by AR Murugadoss. The film stars Gautham Karthik, Pugazh and Revathy Sharma. A.R. Murugadoss is a famous director who made many hit films like Ghajini, Stalin, Thuppakki, and Sarkar.
August 16 1947 film was released worldwide on 7 April 2023 in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam and English languages. It depicts the struggle against the brutality of British general Robert Clive against the villagers of Sengadu. The life and the problems faced by all the villagers and the harsh treatment of the Britishers were shown.
The film did well in the first three days of its release and it collected roughly a crore at the box office. The film didn’t get much good talk, the reason being the lag in the story and most of the story is predictable.
