Movie Milestones:
Fans love to celebrate their favourite movies all year round, but especially so on big milestones. Sometimes the film’s cast and crew also get in on the fun, like when the cast of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani got together again in June for the film’s 10th anniversary or when Koi Milgaya re-released for its 20th anniversary last month. Here are some iconic movies that are celebrating a major milestone anniversary in 2023!
1. Okkadu
A Mahesh Babu film that has already been re-released in the past and had fans dancing in theatres celebrated 20 years since its release on January 15, 2023.
2. Gangotri
Though the now kind of cringy but funny movie isn’t iconic itself, it does mark the first appearance of ‘Icon Star Allu Arjun as a hero who is celebrating 20 years in the industry, and we think that is pretty iconic.
3. Chennai Express
This Srk- Deepika Padukone action rom-com had moviegoers in splits! The film, with its iconic dialogue and songs, celebrated 10 years since its release on August 8th, 2023.
4. Ram Leela
Clearly a big year for Deepika Padukone, along with Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, and Chennai Express, Ram Leela was another big hit. The film also led to the two leads falling in love and tying the knot six years later! What could be more iconic than ‘Deep-Veer!’
5. Munna Bhai M.B.B.S
This movie needs no introduction, having been remade even in Telugu as Shankar Dada M.B.B.S. and becoming a massive hit in both languages. The film celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
6. Kaakha Kaakha
Another film that sparked off-set romance. This 2003 film starring Suriya and Jyothika was also remade in Telugu as Garshana. The Tamil version went on to win several awards and turns 20 this year!
7. Raja Rani
This heart wrenching movie follows the tale of love after loss. Starring Arya, Nayanthara, Nazriya Nazim and Jai, the movie is a cult classic and celebrates turning 10 on September 27th.
8. Hocus Pocus
The movie that captures the Halloween spirit has yet to lose its appeal 3 decades later.
9. Frozen
The Disney movie that shattered all records turns 10 this November, meaning we’ve all had ‘Let It Go’ stuck in our heads for nearly a decade!
10. Twilight
The movie that split teenage girls into team Edward or team Jacob across the world is going to be 15 years old this November!
