Megalopolis : Francis Coppola’s highly anticipated film Megalopolis has secured a prestigious gala premiere slot at the 77th Cannes Film Festival.
Francis Ford Coppola, an American writer, director, and producer, will premiere his latest film, Megalopolis, at Cannes .
The science fiction film, Megalopolis will compete for the Festival’s main prize, the Palme d’Or.
Coppola will return to Cannes, on the magnificent French Riviera, 45 years after showing Apocalypse Now there.
He had received the Palme d’Or for his film The Conversation five years prior.

A spectacular gala will showcase Megalopolis on May 17.
Coppola personally funded the $120-million film using funds from the sale of a substantial portion of his wine vineyard.

Coppola may find Cannes to be an ideal location for striking deals with customers thronging the Festival Market, one of the world’s largest.
In recent weeks, he had been evaluating his work for potential buyers in Hollywood.

The film, starring Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito, Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Chloe Fineman, Kathryn Hunter, and Dustin Hoffman, is about the rebuilding of a metropolis after it was mistakenly destroyed.
There are two schools of thought on how to proceed: one from an idealist architect and the other by the city’s pragmatic mayor .
