Margot Robbie is transitioning from Barbieland to another interactive environment. On Wednesday night, A source reported that Robbie’s Lucky Chap brand is creating a live-action film based on the popular video game franchise The Sims.

Amidst Barbie’s commercial and critical success, Margot Margot Robbie is reportedly in talks to produce another live-action movie, SIMS. Kate Herron, who helmed the first season of Marvel Studios’ Loki, will direct and co-write the Sims film adaptation.

Robbie, Tom Ackerly, Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerr will produce, as well as Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment. The Sims distributor Electronic Arts will also be engaged in the film adaptation. The film does not yet have a studio connected.

Will Wright’s The Sims, released in 1989, inspired the creation of The Sims. Beginning in 2000, the Sims franchise allows players to build virtual avatars called “Sims” and explore many aspects of their lives. In the decades afterward, The Sims has evolved into a slew of games available on computers, consoles, and mobile devices.

A live-action film based on The Sims has been in the works in some form since 2007, with the rights initially held by 20th Century Fox. That cinematic adaptation would have been written by Brian Lynch and produced by John Davis. Fox’s version of The Sims was eventually canceled in 2019 after Disney acquired 20th Century Fox.
