Lokesh Kanagaraj, the director of Thalapathy Vijay’s film Leo, has been named Best South Director for 2023. LEO is the third film from India’s first cinematic universe, the Lokesh Cinematic Universe. All three movies are blockbusters.
LEO plot revolves around Parthiban, a cafe owner and animal rescuer in Theog, who is being pursued by gangsters Antony and Harold Das, who suspect him of being Antony’s estranged son, Leo.
The film evolves into a full-fledged action thriller in which Parthiban attempts to prove he is not Leo while also trying to protect his family from harm. Despite receiving mixed positive reviews from critics for its screenplay and second half, the film was praised for its technical aspects and performance, particularly by Thalapathy Vijay.
The film also starred Trisha Krishnan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, Sandy Master, and many others in pivotal roles, and it became a massive hit in theaters worldwide. The mass entertainer was made with an estimated budget of Rs 250, was released on October 29th to mixed reviews, and collected more than 650 crore worldwide.
