Some people hold such a high position in our hearts that we refuse to speak of them in past tense at any given point in time. KK is one of those. Just like the master of music Lata Mangeshkar‘s passing had made the entire world cry, KK was the next one to shudder a painful ache in everyone’s hearts for weeks after he left the world. Today, on 23rd August, 2023, he would’ve turned 55. But, destiny had something else in store for him, for he bid adieu to us at the age of 53.
Today, on his birthday, if there’s anyone who doesn’t know about him – He’s Krishnakumar Kunnath, remembered as KK, started his singing career with Ad songs. Eventually, he shifted to Bollywood and then the tables turned. First, he was chasing his dream of remaining in B-Town. Later, he was so loved that B-Town would chase him for every song that came by.
Khuda Jaane, Zara Si Dil Mein, Labon Ko, Kya Mujhe Pyaar Hai, Dil Ibaadat are some of this most famous ones. In his career, he sang more than 700 songs.
On 31st May, 2022, he passed away in Kolkata due to a heart attack while he was performing in Kolkata. He felt unwell after his performance at Nazrul Manch and was taken to the CMRI hospital. The doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The exact diagnosis was myocardial infarction, meaning extremely decreased or stopped blood flow to one part of the heart.
