‘King of Kotha’, Dulquer’s next gangster drama pan-Indian film, set in the village of Kotha starring Aishwarya Lekshmi as the female lead and directed by Abhilash Joshiy, dropped its teaser yesterday and has been receiving exceptionally positive feedback. This is not only something new for the actor, but is also different from the close-to-reality, subtle, organic films the Malayalam industry is known for.
The teaser commences with the narrative that the people have been waiting for their king, their savior from the villain , a villain only their king can vanquish, and finally, he has arrived. This is followed by DQ’s grungy, stylish entry, some action-packed glimpses into fights, clubs, mobs, drugs, murder, illegal activities and what appears to be some political elements, basically the works of a gangster movie.
Dulquer’s role as the king of Kotha is established flawlessly by his line ” this is Kotha, it is day only when I say it is and it is night only when i decide it is”.The teaser is taken to the next level by the BGM scored by Jakes Bejoy, which adds a perfect massy exhilarating element. The cinematography is top-notch with a dingy, fiery vintage feel. The movie is scheduled for release in August 2023.
