National Award winner actress Keerthy Suresh has signed her next. The actress will be seen in a project titled Raghu Thatha, which will be written and directed by Suman Kumar and will be bankrolled by Hombale Films, who had earlier directed the K.G.F franchise.
The announcement was made by the makers with a sketch of Keerthy Suresh’s character in the film and the actress is seen protesting against what looks like Hindi imposition. In the backdrop, we see the name of a town Valluvarpettai and the Hindi version of it being scratched out.
The film’s title “Raghu Thatha” is taken from the line ‘Ek gaon mein ek kisan raghu thatha’ which was used in K Bhagyaraj’s 1981 film, Indru Poi Naalai Vaa. In the scene, a Hindi teacher (John Amrithraj) teaches the lines ‘Ek gaon mein ek kisan rehta tha’, to his student Rajendran played by Ramli. However, Ramli, replied ‘Ek gaon mein ek kisan raghu thatha,”. The word ‘thatha’ meaning grandfather in Tamil. The comedy basically delves into the struggles of learning Hindi.

It is the first ever venture for this production house Hombale Films to produce a film in the Tamil industry. Keerthi Suresh was badly needed of a hit movie. In recent times her movies are failing at the box office. She was the female lead in the Natural star Nani’s Dasara too.
