Kay Kay Menon spilled the beans about OTT! Says self-censorship is necessary

Kay Kay Menon

Bollywood’s critically acclaimed actor Kay Kay Menon made his television debut with The Great Indian Dysfunctional Family in 2018. Today, his corpus of work includes acclaimed series like Ray and Farzi.

In a recent conversation, He spilled the beans about the OTT  platform he said,” I was not as popular then. Every media needs a gestation period to mature. Second, anything limited is fine with me. Unending storylines on television are challenging. I have no difficulty with a story that has a beginning, middle, and end. “I don’t think of OTT and films as separate.”

However, Menon supports self-censorship. “It must come from within the person. You cannot always have a headmaster telling you what to do. In life, you should have your senses. There are consequences to what you do on screen as a filmmaker. An actor’s job is to play it out. When creating and directing a series, everyone must have a sense of societal responsibility. It isn’t like anyone needs someone to say ‘I will censor you’. There are such persons in every area; some take advantage, while others are responsible. There are many degrees of censoring. There is a tendency to take things for granted. “It is entirely up to the maker.”
