Kangana Ranaut about the name ‘India’: “I don’t…”

Kangana Ranaut has stated that while she does not object to the name India being used to refer to our nation, she does not currently prefer to use it. The actor gave her opinions on the Bharat vs. India discussion that has been going on on social media for a few days while speaking with a source.

The opposition alliance chose the name INDIA despite having many members who had been charged with corruption, Kangana claimed to the television station. No one complained since we live in a democracy, she continued. She continued by saying that in an effort not to appear Indian, she used to dress in shorts and other Western-style clothing.

She said, “I wanted to look anything but Indian. That was because our country was perceived as a poor nation then. Now, I am proud of my culture, and now, I feel like wearing saris. So, when you realise the importance of your culture, you can embrace it. Our country is pursuing a higher conscience, where the citizens may choose to be who they want to be. No one needs to impose these on you.”

She further added, “I now feel better saying Bharat, but there are times when I say India when a slip of the tongue happens. I do not hate it, nor do I abhor it. That, too, is our past.”

Kangana expressed her opinions on the controversy earlier this month on social media. She shared an article from a source from 2021 in which her statement was printed. She then advised the nation to drop the name India and adopt the name “Bharat” in its place.
