Amidst high expectations, Adipurush starring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon has hit theaters on June 16. Opened to mixed reviews from the first show itself the film bagged disaster in terms of public talk. Being a mythological film based on the epic Ramayana, the film has faced a lot of trolls and controversies for degrading certain characters and dialogues. One particular aspect that has angered many people is the portrayal of Ravana in the movie. Right from the teaser of the film released, Ravanasura’s character faced a lot of objections as Saif Ali Khan is said to not at all seem like Ravanasura. Meanwhile, because of this, an old video of Jr NTR where he talks about Ravana is now going viral on social media.
During the promotions of the Jai Lava Kusa film, NTR said about how he learned about Ravana and the Ramayana. ” I read the book ‘Asura’ written by Anand Neelakanta and got to know many things about Ravana. Ravana is the king of 18 worlds and the emperor of Asuras. He was the master of all the worlds. All these characteristics should be visible in the portrayal of Ravana. Also, while Ravanasura sees Rama during the war, Rama himself praises him, saying, ‘You are such a great person.’” said NTR.
While NTR for his film showed such dedication, Adipurush Ravana was shown with ten heads arranged in two rows and an unconventional beard and hairstyle. This bagged backlash from movie buffs. Conversely, NTR’s dedication to researching and understanding his character has earned a lot of appreciation from movie buffs and the video is currently going viral on social media comparing Adipurush teams and NTR.
