Karthik Subbaraj’s next outing is “Jigarthanda DoubleX”. The film, written and directed by Subbaraj, will kickstart its shooting in Madurai on Monday. It’s a sequel to the 2014 Tamil super hit film “Jigarthanda”. After 8 years long gap, the sequel is coming..
Reportedly, the film was inspired by the South Korean film “A Dirty Carnival”, turned a remake in Telugu, titled “Gaddalakonda Ganesh” stars Varuntej and Pooja Hegde in lead roles. In Hindi, it was titled “Bachchhan Pandey” which starred Akshay Kumar and Kriti Sanon as the leads.
The second installment will start from where the first part left off and is billed to be a high-octane action entertainer featuring Raghava Lawrence and S.J. Suryah as the leading protagonists.
The makers are planning for a trilingual release in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and are looking for the release in next year.
The teaser of Jigarthanda DoubleX was unveiled by Karthik Subbaraj. Both Suryah and Lawrence took to social media to express their excitement over being part of the film.
On the professional front, Raghava Lawrence is part of Chandramukhi 2 and Suryah’s maiden ott web series is currently available on Amazon Prime Video.
