Is DSP turning out to be another Keeravani?

MM Keeravani is a legendary music director in the Telugu film industry. But for many years, his extraordinary musical albums were provided only to Raghavendra Rao films. After the entry of SS Rajamouli, he started giving terrific albums again, only for SSR. Even though many other directors roped him into their movies, thinking he would give the same kind of music to their films, obviously, MMK was not successful. While he had done memorable background scores for SSR’s films from Simhadri to the latest RRR, there is no other movie with other directors with the same background score impact as Jakkanna’s films. Now, the cine experts are pointing out that the talented music director Devi Sri Prasad is becoming another Keeravani for the TFI.

There is a logic behind the experts’ opinions. Even though DSP has given sensational tunes to many directors in the Industry, his recent record doesn’t look any good at all for movies that don’t involve Sukumar. When Sukku is involved in a project, Devi provides sensational tracks and haunting melodies. Pushpa is an example of that. The songs were trending all over the country. The same DSP’s big score for yet-to-be-released Ram Pothineni’s film The Warrior looks average in the trailer. His recent movies other than Pushpa are Alludu Adhurs, Uppena, Rang De, Rowdy Boys, Good Luck Sakhi, Khiladi, Adavallu Miku Joharlu, F3, Ranga Ranga Vaibhavamga. If we see carefully, Uppena is the only blockbuster album among these films. That film is the production of Sukumar and has his supervision too. Except that, all other movie albums are only so so and not many are chartbusters. This is the reason cine observers are opining that DSP is giving his best to Sukku similar to Keeravani giving his best to Rajamouli. Let’s see if the sensational music director will be back again to his best with his upcoming non-Sukku movies too.
