Hum Aapke Hain Koun director says “I have to wait” about making fewer films

Sooraj Barjatya movies

Sooraj Barjatya, the underrated Indian director who has laid his hands on amazing films like Shahid Kapoor’s Vivah, has made less than 10 films in the span of 3 decades and people assume it to be rooting from his lack of ability to direct multiple films one after the other, but Barjatya breaks those assumptions today in an interview.

In the conversation with the host, he was asked why he makes films so seldom, to which he confessed, “Maybe I would’ve made one of two films more out of only seven in 35 years. I mean, as a director, it’s a choice, until and unless there’s an inner voice knocking at me to work on something. If I look at Dono, I wish I could’ve made it, but no, this is my world but this is not what I am. So as a director, I have to wait for that one calling that yes, I need to work on this. So I guess that’s how I am.”

The host further asked Barjatya is there’s something coming up with Salman Khan again, to which he said, “Yes, I will be making.”

In the past, Sooraj Barjatya and Salman Khan have shared a delightful friendship apart from being colleagues at work. They have made films together like Maine Pyaar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hai Koun and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and now, they’re planning on joining hands together again.

The upcoming movie Dono starring Rajveer Deol and Paloma Dhillon is under Rajshri Productions by Sooraj Barjatya, however, he’s not the director. His son Avnish Barjatya is the minds behind it, releasing on October 5th, 2023.
