Hollywood’s obsession with the Moon!

As a constantly present yet ever-changing object in the sky, it’s no surprise that ancient cultures around the world were curious about the Moon, incorporating it into all sorts of Myths and legends. Hollywood often symbolizes the Moon as power and revenge.

The evolution of going to the Moon in movies has increased. For whatever reason, in recent few years, we have seen a surprising amount of Moon-related releases. Since the beginning of cinema, we have been going to the Moon onscreen, though the nostalgic glow of Apollo 10 speaks of how we often look back instead of forward when going to the Moon.

Hollywood‘s obsession with the Moon skyrocketed with the epic space opera, Star Wars franchise and Space Odyssey franchise, whether it’s the Roland Emmerich disaster film Moonfall, The HBO MAX sci-fi Moonshot, and Richard Linlater’s new movie that was quietly released on Netflix, Apollo 10: A Space Adventure.

There are multiple upcoming sci-fi films related to the moon and space adventures, such as Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon, Denies Villeneve’s Dune; Part Two, John David Washington’s The Creator and Disney Plus Hotstar’s sci-fi series Ashoka developed by Jon Favreau.
