Grimes, a Canadian singer, stated that she would consent to have her voice utilized on any song written by artificial intelligence (AI). She has asked musicians to use her voice as a template to write new tracks. The pop singer, real name Claire Boucher, promised to “split 50% royalties on any successful AI-generated song that uses my voice” in an Instagram post. “I treat every artist I collaborate with the same. Without any restrictions, feel free to utilize my voice, she said.
The musician made mentioned in his article recent reports that AI was being utilized to mimic Canadian superstars Drake and The Weeknd. Prior to being requested to be taken down by Universal Music Group, which publishes both artists through a subsidiary and released the popular song “Heart On My Sleeve” last Friday, it was temporarily available on services including Spotify and Apple Music.
The industry is divided on the use of AI in music, with some criticizing copyright violations and others admiring its abilities.
