Adipurush is one film for which Prabhas fans were waiting desperately. But it seems along with them, cinephiles, in general, are very disappointed with the film’s teaser that was released recently in Ayodhya. People expected it to be a live animation kind of film similar to Jungle Book but the teaser never looked as if it belonged to a Rs 400 Crore budgeted film. In fact, the cine observers are opining that the Om Raut directorial failed to reach expectations on many levels.
The flak received by the film is so much that the hashtag ‘Disappointed’ was trending in Twitter since the teaser was released. While general fans are lambasting that the graphics are poorer than the Hanuman series in Hotstar, traditionalists are firing that the film didn’t follow Ramayana. “Saif is shown without the three horizontal Vibhooti lines which are always considered the trademark of Ravan as he is a staunch devotee of Lord Shiva. Ravana’s makeup is made to look like some nomadic king. Ravana, albeit the villain of Ramayana, is a genius in many fields like music, aviation, war, and politics. It’s very disappointing and injustice to Ramayana”, the critics said. Few netizens even remembered SS Rajamouli. “No other director can justify the Hindu epics. #disappointed with #Adipurush trailer. Only a director like Rajamouli can do justice and portray Shri Ram the way Hindus would want. All others want to mint money in the name of Shri Ram. Plus I don’t want to watch” wrote one user. Even Prabhas’s appearance seemed to lack that sensitive and handsome look Lord Ram is portrayed always. In contrast, Darling looked too ferocious with a heavy twirled moustache. Overall, the teaser got average and negative reviews on social media. It has to be seen how the movie will shape up.
