Dulquer Salmaan says he will not approve remakes

Dulquer Salmaan on Bangalore Days

Bangalore Days is considered one of the most successful Malayalam films to date. Starring Dulquer Salmaan, Nivin Pauly, Fahadh Faasil, and Nazriya Nazim, the movie revolves around three cousins and their close bond. This hit film was remade in Tamil as “Bangalore Naatkal” with Arya, Bobby Simha, and Sri Divya.
In recent news, Dulquer has declined the opportunity to reprise his role as Arjun in the Hindi remake of “Bangalore Days.” He shared that while he was approached by the filmmakers, he turned down the offer because he didn’t want to revisit the same role, as it might feel mechanical.
Dulquer expressed his good wishes to the Hindi team working on the remake, stating, “I am often asked to play Arjun in other languages. They want me to reprise the same role. But why should I do it again? It would become mechanical for me, and I wouldn’t be invested in it.
The actor was also offered the chance to reprise his role in the Tamil remake, but he declined, and Arya took up the role. Although the Tamil version of “Bangalore Days” couldn’t replicate the success of the original, it remains to be seen how the Hindi version will fare.
In the Hindi remake titled “Yaariyan 2,” Meezaan Jafri, known for movies like “Malaal” and “Hungama 2,” is portraying the role originally played by Dulquer.  Dulquer also expressed his disapproval of remakes, stating that he’s always been more interested in creating original content.
“I firmly believe that nothing should be remade. Our focus should be on creating original content. Remaking something is quite effortless. I have turned down numerous remake offers that later turned out to be highly successful projects. Nevertheless, I remain steadfast in my stance that nothing should be remade,” he emphasized.
