Dulquer Salmaan is set to make a comeback to the silver screen after a gap of over a year with two back-to-back projects: the action-packed movie “King of Kotha” and the comedic crime thriller series “Guns & Gulaabs.”
As part of his promotions for the show “Guns and Gulaabs,” media had a conversation with Dulquer Salmaan. During the interview, he shared his perspective on being compared to his father Mammootty, his thoughts on “King of Kotha,” his interest in mass-oriented films, and more.
When questioned about the delay in accepting a mass-oriented film and whether he feared being compared to his father Mammootty, the actor from “Karwaan” explained, “I’ve always pursued strong content and well-crafted stories.
In the beginning, as I gained popularity, I was approached with these types of films, but I didn’t come across anything substantial. So, I guess it just got postponed. Now, I’ve finally discovered something significant. It’s a massive project that I’ve never attempted before. It’s about finding that equilibrium between substance and the commercial aspect.”
Continuing to discuss “King Of Kotha,” the versatile actor shared, “The film’s length provides ample space for a captivating story, involving a tale of friendship within a gangster backdrop. There’s a lot going on, and in a way, it slightly reminds me of our show (‘Guns and Gulaabs’) due to its multiple characters, each playing a significant role. I’ve invested a lot of time into this film, spending a year working on it. So, I’m both excited and a bit anxious about it.”
“Guns & Gulaabs,” a web series created by Raj & DK, acclaimed for their works like “Farzi” and “The Family Man,” is set in the 1990s and features Dulquer Salmaan, Rajkummar Rao, Adarsh Gourav, and Gulshan Devaiah in important roles. The series is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on August 18. This show marks Dulquer Salmaan’s debut in the world of web series.
