After a whirlwind couple of years, pop star Dua Lipa is back with a new album; the wildly ambitious pop star talks about embracing freedom and fun — both in her personal life and in her upcoming music. Dua says she’s in planning mode, working to give fans everything and learning to roll with the punches.
“I’m trying to move with a lightness, like ‘nothing is the end of the world.’ Whatever happens is exactly the way it’s supposed to be.” The upcoming third album is a psychedelic-pop-infused tribute to U.K. rave culture heavily inspired by acts like Primal Scream and Massive Attack.” This record feels a bit more raw.”
Dua Lipa graces a magazine cover discussing kicking off a new era in her life and album. While sharing her forthcoming album, she said, “I want to capture the essence of youth and freedom and having fun and just letting things happen, whether good or bad. You can’t change it.”
Dua Lipa also talked about working on DL3, saying, “I don’t think there’s a single song on this record that I didn’t go back and want to rewrite and perfect and change and work on it a bit more and dig a little deeper…” she began working on songs for DL3 way back in 2021 before her ‘Future Nostalgia’ tour started.”…For me, I just have to write a lot until I get my idea.”
