Disney’s Freaky Friday sequel is in the works

Freaky Friday is an American fantasy comedy film written and directed by Mark Waters. It stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan as a mother and daughter duo, whose bodies are switched by a mysterious and magical fortune cookie.

The film was based on Mary Rodger’s 1972 novel.  The film earned Jamie Lee Curtis a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress and grossed $ 160 million globally. During a recent interview with New York Times, actresses Lindsay Lohan and Jame Lee Curtis who were celebrating the 20th anniversary of the movie announced that they are reuniting for a Freaky Friday sequel and Elyse Hollander is penning the script.

Disney confirmed the sequel to the Hollywood Reporter and shared that both actresses are expected to reprise their roles as career-driven moms and daughters, respectively.  Walt Disney  Pictures will be producing and distributing the ”Freaky Friday ” sequel. The director and the cast of the film are yet to be announced by  Disney.
