Diljit Dosanjh is one of those Punjabi actors that started learning to sing while doing Kirtan in Gurudwaras in a small village in Punjab. Today, he’s reached such great heights with his music and movies that he’s entered Bollywood and hasn’t stopped slaying ever since. Because of his turban, he created awareness about the Sikh religion across the globe and the entire community is proud of him for the same.
His first famous song was Do You Know 6 years ago with 246 million views on YouTube. After that, his Bollywood entry was through the movie ‘Good Newwz’ in 2019.
Parineeti Chopra is another lead artist in this masterpiece who was recently grabbing the spotlight because of her engagement with Raghav Chadha. Professionally, she became famous with movies like Ishaqzaade, Hasee Toh Phasee, Ladies vs. Ricky Bahl and many others.
This time, Dosanjhanwala is all set to burn the ground on Netflix with his upcoming movie Amar Singh Chamkila. He is a renowned singer in Punjabi music who was assassinated alongside his wife Amarjot, a real-life incident that was brushed under the carpet for several years.
Imitiaz Ali – the director – has focused people’s attention on his untold story. He says, “I could not have asked for better actors than the immensely talented Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra to play in this film, especially since it involves some live singing. The film follows the crazed popularity of Chamkila’s daring songs that society could neither ignore nor swallow.”
With Diljit playing Amar Singh and Parineeti as Amarjot, this Netflix movie is anticipated in 2024.
