The coronation of Charles III and his wife, Camilla, as king and queen of the United Kingdom took place on 6 May 2023 at Westminster Abbey.
To celebrate the same, Coronation Concert was held on 7th May, which was attended by big personalities like Richie, Katy Perry, Andrea Bocelli, Sir Bryn Terfel, Take That, Freya Ridings, and Alexis French.
People were also expecting singer ED Sheeran to perform in the concert. But to the surprise, ED Shereen didn’t show up.
There were a lot of rumors about ED Sheeran turning down the offer to perform in the Coronation Concert. Reacting to the rumors, the singer revealed he never got an invitation from Buckingham Palace to reject in the first place.
The singer said ‘Lots of people are saying to me how it’s random [Katy Perry and Lionel Richie] are going to sing at the King’s Coronation… I want to clear something up actually. No one ever asked me. I never ever turned it down. I wasn’t asked but yeah, I am excited to tune into that. Historic, isn’t it?
