Rockstar Devi Sri Prasad has given some evergreen melodies and mass masala chartbusters to Tollywood ever since he started his career. But of late, he seems to be lagging behind. The musician who has once worked day and night without any gap is currently having only a few handful of films in his bag. Partly this is due to his own doing and his recent works are not up to his own standards. Except here and there, there aren’t many songs from his albums that are successful. Background scores too, are turning out to be below par. Industry experts say that the rockstar is clearly struggling to find his old self. Recently released Ram Pothineni’s The Warrior highlighted the same.
In all the reviews, one of the drawbacks of the film is written as background music. Reviewers are saying that proper BGM would have elevated The Warrior to another level. In his recent movies, except for Uppena, Pushpa.. DSP is not really up to the mark. As for The Warrior, two songs Bullet and Whistle have done well. Other than these, there aren’t many to mention his work in recent times. On the other hand, his professional rival SS Thaman is bagging all the huge projects and living up to the mark as well. His BGM in Balayya’s Akhanda is one of the most talked about in recent times. For Devi, there are times when an entire movie carried just on his shoulders and became a blockbuster. It can be seen in many movies like Devi, Anandam, Bommarillu, Arya, Manmadhudu, Gabbarsingh, Attarintiki Daredhi, Mr Perfect etc. For Anandam and Manmadhudu BGM’s, there are separate fan groups. Let’s wish that the vintage Devi Sri Prasad Will be back again for the sake of all music lovers.
