Deepika’s political controversy over the few years

The most recent global star, Deepika Padukone, is depicted on the cover of TIME magazine. She discussed her political controversies and her acting career in the interview.

With her work, Padukone is credited with introducing the world to Bollywood, and in 2018, TIME magazine celebrated her as one of the 100 most influential persons in the world. She can be seen on the cover of TIME magazine without any shoes and donning an enormous beige suit. The Indian actress discussed the ongoing political criticism she has experienced during her career. I don’t know if I’m expected to feel anything about it, she said. However, the truth is that I have no reaction to it.

Political squabbles involving Deepika Padukone:

Karni Sena protested Deepika’s movie Padmaavat, and she visited Jawaharlal Nehru University to show support for students who had been attacked by a crowd. Both events sparked outrage. Strong resistance to her stardom has also arisen, especially in light of the conservative Hindu-nationalist shift in Indian politics during the past ten years. This was initially observed in 2016 when she starred in Padmaavat, a historical film about a Hindu queen who captures the Muslim Sultan of Delhi’s attention.

Following the spread of suspicions of a love scene between the two protagonists, Hindu vigilantes burned the movie on fire. There was a commotion among onlookers when a representative of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) even promised a $1.5 million prize for Padukone’s execution.

At a student demonstration in 2020 against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, which was introduced by the Indian government and was headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Padukone was observed standing still. Bollywood celebrities rarely participate in political protests, therefore Deepika’s appearance at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi was an unusual occurrence.

The “saffron” bikini Padukone wore in a musical sequence of the movie Pathaan caused uproar in January. The orange bikini, which has been embraced as a symbol for Hindu nationalists and is thought to be a sacred colour in Hinduism, offended a BJP politician.
