Deepika talks about her journey and nepotism

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has established herself in the film industry and is one of the highest-paid actresses as well. The actress who made her debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan with Om Shanti Om in 2007.

Recently, in an interview, the actress talked about nepotism and the pressures of navigating the industry as an outsider. The Jawan actress said she had no choice and elaborated, “When you were an outsider 15 or 20 years ago, there was no other option. It’s an uphill task for any individual trying to make a mark in a field or profession that their parents don’t come from. The fact that we’ve started to articulate things like nepotism is a new trend. It existed then, it exists now, and it will continue to exist. That was my reality.”

The actress recounted being a teenager in a new city trying to enter into a new industry. She has to handle herself professionally and personally celebrating triumph over the challenges. She commends herself looking back at her journey by saying, “Not bad, girl! You did this, and you did it on your own.”
