Captain Vijayakanth movies remade in Indian Cinema

Tamil superstar and DMDK leader Vijayakanth passed away at a private hospital in Chennai on Thursday. The actor, fondly called Captain, left the void in Tamil Nadu’s political history of Tamilnadu.

Vijayakanth’s journey in the Tamil film industry is a tale of perseverance and eventual triumph. Although he saw three consecutive failures at the start of his career, he tasted success with Sattam Oru Iruttarai in 1981, directed by SA Chandrasekhar.

With the film establishing the actor as a star in Tamil Cinema, it was remade in Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada where it was also a success. The actor’s films have been transformed in all the regional industries where the cine-goers loved the storyline and made it a success in their language.

His 2002 film Ramanaa, directed by AR Murugudoss, was also remade in Telugu as Tagore and in Hindi as Gabbar is Back. It also saw success in Bengali and Kananda. His other movie, Bharathan(1992), was also remade in Hindi as Ghayal(1998).
