‘Satya Prem ki Katha’ is a 2023 rom-com all set to release on the 29th! The film stars Kiara Advani and Karthik Aaryan as the lead pair, but what has garnered everyone’s attention recently is the films featuring the popular hit song pasoori. ‘Pasoori’ by Ali Sethi x Shae Gill released in 2022 was the first Coke Studio song and the first Pakistani song to be featured on Spotify’s “Viral 50 – Global” chart. It was extremely successful, making major waves across social media and streaming platforms, with over half a billion views on YouTube and even being featured in ‘Ms. Marvel’, a mini-series from the Marvel franchise.
However, this is not Bollywood’s first attempt at remaking a popular song. ‘Manike’ was remade in Thank God, ‘Rangisari’ in Jugjugg Jeeyo etc,.
This rendition of Pasoori released yesterday has received mixed reviews from netizens, with some excited about the movie version, others were disappointed to see yet another remake claiming that the originals are always superior and Bollywood is butchering another masterpiece yet again. Another conversation brewing has been that the song is of Pakistani origin and being copied in an Indian film. All in all, people seem to be on the fence in regards to the teaser. We’ll have to see what impact the full song makes !
