Babil Khan Addresses the Question of Stepping into Irrfan Khan’s Shoes for Movie Remakes

Babil Khan, son of legendary late actor Irrfan Khan, made his acting debut in the film, Qala. The actor received a deluge of applause from the audience for his spectacular performance. His brilliant execution was proved in the recent IIFA awards.

At the 23rd edition of the IIFA Awards on Saturday, the rookie actor bagged the Best Male Debut award for his performance in Qala. Babil attended the awards, which took place in Abu Dhabi, with his mother Sutapa Sikdar. During the awards, the actor got nostalgic about his father and said, “I miss him every day of my life. When I was growing up I did not have a lot of friends and he was my singular friend. Laughing with him is my most memorable memory with Baba.”

When asked if he would contemplate recreating any of Irrfan Khan’s movies, Babil gave an instant no. He added, “No… Why would you try to recreate Baba’s performance …I think he did it really well.” It looks like Babil recognizes his father’s legacy is fine on its own and everything doesn’t have to be remade constantly.

Babil shared the best debut (male) award with Shantanu Maheshwari of “Gangubai Kathiawadi” fame.
