Variety notes that the most recent rumours point to Ayan Mukerji directing War 2. The YRF spy universe will continue to grow with the release of this movie. In terms of the spy genre, the first entry was the 2012 movie Ek Tha Tiger, which was followed by the 2017 movie Tiger Zinda Hai and the 2019 movie War. The most recent film in this universe was Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, which set numerous records at the box office.
