Ranbir Kapoor‘s movie ‘Animal’ has created havoc in public with its banging release in theatres, grossing 660.89 crores. However, the film has also received backlash from many audiences for its misogynist portrayal, and regarding the same, actress Saloni Batra, who played the role of Ranbir Kapoor’s sister in the movie, talked about the violence and masculine dominance portrayed by the film’s characters.
In a recent interview, Saloni Batra talked about the trolls from the audience, claiming that the movie’s characters promote violence and women’s suppression, to which she said, “Of course, the characters are flawed, but you make stories on flawed characters. These are inspirations, and hence, you put them on screen to show them to the audience to sit and enjoy in a theater. Sandeep sir (Sandeep Reddy Vanga) is so legendary with his craft, with his filmmaking, he knows how to reach the audience. Obviously, a character, who has not gotten love from his father is going to be flawed. When we write stories, we always get inspired by real characters in life. Now, it’s about also the audience to understand what is right and what is wrong. We can’t be sitting and preaching.”
She also reacted to the scene where Young Ranvijay fired the gun in the college to scare the students, and she said, “That does not happen in real life, and it should not happen. People have loved it, and how he’s devised everything in that scene. It is cinematic, and it’s for the film; it’s for the purpose of that character. So, I don’t think people should take back wrong things from it.”
Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal has come under fire from audiences trolling for its extreme toxicity and for the way women were portrayed in the film, which triggered many audiences. Still, it is doing well at the box office. The movie has received appreciation for its screenplay and cinematography. Overall, the film gained mixed reviews.
