Recently, Ratna Pathak Shah and Supriya Pathak, actors who are siblings, made a joint appearance on Twinkle Khanna’s YouTube discussion show The Icons. Ratna Pathak discussed how she adapted to a “blended family” because her husband Naseeruddin Shah already had a daughter from a previous marriage on the show. She also stated that she initially met her husband at a play rehearsal.
“In a rehearsal, we were doing a play with Dubey ji and it was called Sambhog Se Sanyas Tak, covers the whole of our life story. Sanyas lena baaki hai, bass. He was wearing these great John Lennon glasses, and I like that, and he had a beard, I love men with beards…”, said Ratna when asked about Naseer.
How many men did you know before meeting Naseer, interrupted Supriya, who was seated next to her? In response, Ratna said, “Supriya, there were so many good-looking guys in college, I used to drool, I had eyes.” Supriya reacted to this by saying, “No!” “No, you didn’t,” she said, “you only had eyes for Naseer.”
“I didn’t even get his name right, because I was introduced to him by Dubey and by that time Dubej had lost a lot of his teeth so you couldn’t understand a word that he said,” Ratna recalled as she recounted the narrative of her first encounter with Naseer. He said his name was Naseer, but for some reason I couldn’t hear him and instead heard Shivendra Sinha. Ratna responded, “No, no, as we got to the rehearsals, Naseer introduced himself to the rest of the cast. Twinkle questioned her if she called him Shivendra. I later learned that it is Naseeruddin Shah.
